We're going to keep track of costs incurred here for anyone considering a similar trip on a similar basis. Hope you find it useful:

Trip Costs:

  • B&B costs - £350 per person range from £25 per person per night to £55 per night

  • Food and Drink - £300 per person we ran a joint kitty to avoid the discussion en-route

  • Clothes - Variety of extra cycling clothing, 4 pairs of shorts 5 Tops, extra socks, spare gloves - £150 per person

  • On Bike Food and Energy Powder - £60

Total: £860

Technology Costs:

  • Website hosting - Fasthosts - £57.50 for one year on Windows Server 2003 with ASP Support

  • Domain Name - UKReg - £8.50 for 2 years

  • SportsDo Tracking Software for Windows Mobile - £50 plus £5 per month for Portal access

  • Bluetooth GPS Tracking Device - £35

So as you can see - the way we did it we had to fund around £750 each for the pleasure of completing the trip.

Some of it very re-usable - such as Clothing and the Technology of course.

Reuben and Paul both were inspired to buy new Bikes although Paul didn't receive it in time to shake it down and hence took his existing machine.

Reuben bought an on Bike Camera for around £70 I think.
