To our small website about our planned cycle trip from Lands End to john O'Groats scheduled for the end of July 2007.

I'll post thoughts, plans, pictures and trip information here as the project grows and we gradually get our acts together on the actual plan and route etc.

Three chaps - Jonathan - webmaster and keen cyclist and Paul - keen cyclist, Reuben a native Australian working in the UK- mad keen runner and cyclist.

JR and PB did the C2C challenge in May 2006 and even though my better judgement (JR) says this will be bloody hard we're going to give it a go for the Francis House Children's Hospice based in Manchester.

Brief facts about the planned trip

When are you going?

July 2007

How long will it take?

We're planning to complete it over 9/10 days

How many miles?

Well the sign above says 874 so why argue but with detours and avoiding the M5 it could be as much as 1,000 miles.

Are you mad?

Maybe but it'll be a real mental and physical challenge and for a great cause - see the cause

How do we sponsor you?

Via the justgiving link on every page or directly via PayPal if you prefer. Alternatively send us an email and we'll add your commitment to our sponsorship forms.

How much do you hope to raise?

We've set the target at 5000 but hope to smash that if you all get behind us.

The Plan

Is to get a friendly driver to ferry luggage to each overnight stop in a predetermined B&B. We originally planned to hire a campervan but went off the idea in favour of a good shower and a decent kip each night.

We think we will cover between 80 and 110 miles each day and sleep at pre booked location.

Also the car can carry, supplies food and spares along the way meaning minimal carrying on the bikes themselves.

We've planning to take 10 days so roughly 80 miles a days needs to be clocked up and if things go badly wrong - injuries etc our home towns near Manchester are half way into the trip.

We've read a variety of accounts of the trip and believe that even a 9 year old once completed it which if kept in the mind should spur us on as well the significant push for the Francis House - our chosen cause for the trip - the thought of failure is not a pleasant one so failing injuries and bike mishaps we'll just keep riding!

30th July 2007 - We did it - 905 miles completed 28th July in 8 days and 4 hours. Read the blog, see the pics, get that sponsorship in before it closes at the end of September 2007.
